I hope that wasn't too tech-y for anyone. progress will be more even-without the saggy rear look, B&G will be slightly raked forward compared to the progress. the bottom edge of the doors will sit level, so with the tapered sideskirts, it can give the illusion that the cars rear is sitting low. The output limit is only reached by meeting or exceeding the operating parameters of the unit (point of diminishing returns, speed rating of internal bearings, etc.) A centrifugal supercharger will behave similar to a turbo, with no turbo lag or nowhere near the heat concerns (There is also a major difference in heat between oil fed and self-contained centrifugal compressors.oil fed being vastly more efficient, but that is another thread entirely). Eibach will give you that big drop in the rear. That 2000 SE ripped up the curves espically with stock wheels and manual. The sky is nowhere near as scalpel sharp as a miata, but to butcher the metaphor, its a sharp chisel. With a centrifugal compressor the boost curve is linear, so the faster you turn the unit, the more boost it will generate. Engine on redline is coarse and a virtually flat power curve vs a typical NA peak at higher RPMs. In contrast, the centrifugal supercharger (Vortech for example) behaves nearly opposite of the positive displacement. In addition, positive displacement units have more internal moving parts, and therefore take more power to turn and generate more heat. You make max boost off the line, but the boost curve is always opposite of a vehicle's natural power band. Basically, when you get to a certain engine rpm, the compressor will taper off as the engine becomes able to utilize more and more cfm as the rpm increases. Once the compressor has reached its volumetric capacity, it can no longer produce any additional volume (make more boost/push any more air). The on-line files referenced in that thread are for a 2009 which is going to be correct for most things, but some details are going to. In 2008 the manuals covered the Sky as well as the Solstice. This is why positive displacement compressors are sometimes rated by their displacement. The color doesnt matter, and the service manuals include information for all variants for a given year. The positive displacement, which is the style that is on the ION Redline, can only produce a set amount of boost, specifically determined by the size of the housing. Test drive Used Saturn Sky Red Line at home from the top dealers in your area. The two major types are a positive displacement supercharger and a centrifugal supercharger. One recent post said it was easier to separate the two halves of the pump first and pull each half out separately (and vice versa when installing the new one). The thing is, you have to realize there are more than one kind of supercharger. The official way is to remove the turbo, but others have commented that it is possible to wrangle the pump out without removing it - though very difficult.
